The Chairman's Gala and Awards Banquet, black tie optional, is the final event of the 41st Annual Convention and Business Expo.  During the gala there are notable speakers, award presentation to the Business Man, Chamber, Corporation, Government and the induction of the 2016 - 2017 Executive Committee.
Marie Diaz
Keynote Speaker

Marie Diaz is a sought-after speaker for business and community organizations. She is inspirational, powerful and dynamic. Combining inspiring keynotes with skills-based training, Marie brings about positive change in an organization.
 
Ms. Diaz is the Chief Executive Officer / Chief Visionary Officer of Pursuit of Excellence, a Dallas-based company she founded in 1994 while independently working with Fortune 500 companies as an Organizational Development Consultant and Coach. Ms. Diaz incorporated in 1997 and expanded her business into a full scope of human resources offerings, including: HR Risk Management Consulting, Organizational Development and Training, Payroll Processing, Employee Benefit Administration and Recruiting.
 
While being a strong advocate for small business growth and entrepreneurship, Ms. Diaz is very passionate about the growth and success of her community, the people who make it a success and most importantly, helping others succeed.
 
As a young Latina and a single mother, raising three boys was a challenge to Ms. Diaz. She has learned to balance her family and a growing business. She draws upon her experiences to help others overcome adversity on their road to success.

Shayla Rivera
Mistress of Ceremonies

Shayla Rivera is a former Aerospace Engineer with NASA turned Keynote Speaker, TV Host, Emcee/Host, Humorist, Comedian, Actor, Writer, Producer and Awareness Expert.
Her keynotes include subjects which span motivation, inspiration, leadership, diversity, education, STEM education, awareness, stress management, communication, the importance of humor and her life story.

She applies her expertise as a speaker to help many non-profit organizations, charitable and educational programs. She has spoken to clients across the country including corporations, national and local organizations, and students from elementary school to college. Rivera has been speaking and performing for 20 years and has broad appeal to men and women of all backgrounds and ages.

Shayla hosted the 13 episode TV series "You're Not The Man I Married" for the Lifetime Real Women Network. She has appeared on television in "Comics Unleashed," "National Lampoon's Funny Money," "Funny is Funny" on Comedy Central and others. She was a guest on "The Dennis Miller Show," "The Roseanne Show," "The Martin Short Show" and featured in the "Paul Rodriguez Latin All Stars." She was named "Funniest Latina Comedian" by the organization "Latin 2015." Shayla is very proud of her tours to entertain U.S. troops in Iraq and around the world. She also serves as host/emcee for many events, such as award shows, gala's, fundraisers and festivals.

Shayla was born and raised in Puerto Rico. After obtaining a degree in Aerospace Engineering with a minor in Psychology at Texas A&M University, Shayla spent 8 years working for NASA. From there she moved on to stress management corporate trainings and motivational speaking, where Shayla discovered her comedic talents.

A self-proclaimed Awareness Expert, Shayla has come to know one basic truth, "The best way to learn, grow and change, in other words be enlightened, is to lighten up." Approaching very serious subjects with a very light heart, Shayla helps young and old alike become clear about the personal beliefs that might be getting in the way of their real desires.

With numerous awards and accolades throughout her engineering, comedy and speaking careers Shayla is not easily placed in just one category or class, she defines her own.
Shayla says, "My number one goal is to inspire, through laughter and my keynotes."
