TAMACC Signs Agreements in Support of HUB Program

CEREMONIAL MEMORANDUM OF COOPERATION SIGNING

AUSTIN - The Texas Association of Mexican American Chambers of Commerce (TAMACC) will be signing a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) with twenty-one (21) state agencies and universities at the Texas State Capitol on Thursday, March 30, 2017.

The purpose of this "good faith" agreement is to create a mutually beneficial relationship between the agencies and universities listed below, which will encourage and assist the development of Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUB) within the State of Texas. Furthermore, the agreement is intended to facilitate the accessibility of information regarding the purchase procedures and HUB programs of the involved agencies, to our member Chambers of Commerce and Organizations, and businesses throughout the state.

These agreements assist TAMACC in conjunction with the agencies and universities to provide outreach activities, technical assistance, education, and increase the number of certified businesses which provides more knowledge and awareness of procurement opportunities through bidding on current contracts.

"The fact that the heads of these agencies and universities have come to the table to agree and sign Memorandums of Cooperation is significant," said Samuel Guzman, Chairman of the Board.  "This means that their belief in and commitment to HUBs is real and that they support their HUB Program Coordinators is getting the job done."

The HUB Program focuses on businesses that are at least 51% owned by an Asian Pacific American, Black American, Hispanic American, Native American, American woman and/or Service Disabled Veteran, who reside in Texas and actively participate in the control, operations, and management of the entity's affairs.
