Hearts and Prayers to the El Paso Community

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Hearts and Prayers to the El Paso Community
We must not allow this terrible incident and loss to be in vain.
Buda, Texas August 8, 2019 - On Saturday, August 3, 2019, the Texas Association of Mexican American Chambers of Commerce (TAMACC), at its annual business convention unanimously and vehemently condemned the massacre of innocent citizens and Mexican shoppers of El Paso, Texas. The unconscionable act was conducted by a self-proclaimed white supremacist and racist who travelled ten hours across the state to murder innocent men, women, and children.  His victims were innocent families shopping at a Walmart, but in the gunman’s mind these shoppers were Hispanic invaders, who have no right to be in the United States.

The killer was reported by authorities to be stone cold with no remorse for his killing spree.  His online manifesto and writings echoed the same mentality and message some of our top national leaders.  As in the case of this evil killer, words and thoughts matter, and were manifested in the murderous act.

Our hearts and prayers go out to our El Paso brothers and sisters who suffered the ultimate loss of their loved ones, to the El Paso community, and our colleagues of the El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

We must not allow this terrible incident and loss to be in vain. This horrific act of evil should not paralyze us in fear but resolve us to become more civically and politically involved, to ensure that this kind of evil and hatred is defeated.
