The Health and Human Services Commission is hosting their HUB Vendor Fair that will focus on minority and women owned business demonstrating their abilities and talents to expand opportunities.

This year's fair will connect agency buyers, HUB vendors, and prime contractors in networking sessions as well as provide opportunity to network with other State Agencies and University HUB Program Staff.

TAMACC to Host Statewide Women of Distinction Awards Luncheon


12 Latinas from Across Texas to be Honored

AUSTIN, TEXAS:  May 1, 2014 - The Texas Association of Mexican American Chambers of Commerce (TAMACC) will honor female business and community leaders at its third annual Women of Distinction Awards luncheon Friday, May 16, 2014 in Austin, Texas.

 

Twelve Latinas will be recognized for their professional accomplishments and community contributions. "TAMACC recognizes that Texas has one of the largest numbers of Hispanic women-owned businesses in the United States at approximately 140,000 and is continuing to grow," said Roland Barrera, TAMACC Board Chair. "But it is important to recognize the Latinas who are making great contributions in their professions and communities."

 

The 2014 Women of Distinction are:

  • Rosie Gonzalez Collin, Public Relations Executive, Citgo Refinery, Corpus Christi, Texas

  • Veronica Escobar, Judge, El Paso County, El Paso, Texas
  • Stephanie Hernandez, National Business Manager, National Latino Peace Officers' Association, Austin, Texas
  • Sally Hurt-Deitch, President and CEO, Sierra Providence East Medical Center, El Paso, Texas
  • Mercy Murguia, County Commissioner Precinct 2, Potter County, Amarillo, Texas
