The 88th Texas Legislative Session Opens January 10, 2023

The 88th Texas Legislative Session opens at noon on Tuesday, January 10, 2023. Every two years, the Texas Legislature convenes for 140 days.

State lawmakers have already filed hundreds of bills. Last session, the Texas legislature filed a combined 9,999 bills and resolutions. According to the Texas Legislative Reference Library, 4,581 of those passed.

During the legislative session, TAMACC will monitor proposed bills and resolutions that may affect Minority-owned or small businesses. We will also be watching closely how the State of Texas plans to use the $27 billion currently in surplus.

A delegation of TAMACC leadership and members will be making the rounds at the State Capitol on the opening day of the session. Along with keeping you posted on business issues, TAMACC will stand by to advocate or testify accordingly on the proposed legislation affecting Hispanic/Minority-owned businesses.
