September 22, 2022 New Census Data: Hispanics may now be the Largest Demographic Group in Texas The Texas Tribune received a lot of attention for an article they published on September 15, about the size of the Hispanic population in Texas. This article was no surprise to those of us who have been watching the Hispanic population grow for the past few decades. However, it was reaffirming to see respected publications such as The Texas Tribune publish what we already knew. Below is an excerpt from the article:  “The new population figures, derived from the bureau’s American Community Survey, showed Hispanic Texans made up 40.2% of the state’s population in 2021 while non-Hispanic white Texans made up 39.4%. The estimates — based on comprehensive data collected over the 2021 calendar year — are not considered official.” FULL ARTICLE J.R. Gonzales of TAMACC was Appointed to the Export-Import Bank of the United States Council on Small Business READ MORE WASHINGTON, DC – The Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) announced the appointment of its newest members to the four subcommittees of EXIM’s 2022 -2023 Advisory Councils. The subcommittees are the: Council on Climate, Council on China Competition, and two newly formed subcommittees, the Council on Advancing Women in Business, and Council on Small Business. J.R. Gonzales of the Texas Association of Mexican American Chambers of Commerce (TAMACC) has been appointed to the Council on Small Business. The council consists of 18 members and will be Co-Chaired by Bob Dreisewerd, President & CEO of Baron Weather, Inc. alongside Nancy Flake Johnson, President & CEO of the Urban League of Greater Atlanta. The Council on Small Business will provide recommendations on ways EXIM can help more Americans. April will start her Texas visit with a private reception at the TAMACC offices in Buda. October 11, April will be at the McCoy College of Business at Texas State University, where she will be a featured speaker in the Studies in Entrepreneurship Speaker Series. Her campus visit includes a reception, a speaking engagement, and a book signing of her memoir, Embracing Me.
