TAMACC E-News: Wednesday, March 5, 2025 | | Why TAMACC Supports Women’s History Month
The Texas Association of Mexican American Chambers of Commerce (TAMACC) proudly supports Women’s History Month as part of our ongoing commitment to empowering Latina entrepreneurs, professionals, and community leaders.
Women, especially Latinas, have played a crucial role in shaping Texas’ economic and cultural landscape. From small business owners to corporate executives, they continue to break barriers, create opportunities, and inspire future generations. Women-owned businesses are one of the fastest-growing segments in the U.S., contributing significantly to job creation and economic development.
TAMACC believes in fostering an inclusive business environment where women have equal access to resources, networking opportunities, and mentorship. Throughout March, we celebrate the achievements of Latina trailblazers, advocate for policies that support women in business, and provide platforms for their voices to be heard.
Women’s History Month is not just about honoring the past—it’s about shaping the future. TAMACC remains dedicated to supporting women’s success, recognizing their contributions, and ensuring they have the tools to thrive in an ever-evolving business world. The Texas Association of Mexican American Chambers of Commerce (TAMACC) played a pivotal role in organizing and participating in For the Love of Texas, a groundbreaking unity summit focused on protecting and advancing diversity in higher education. The event, led by Black Brown Dialogues on Policy (BBDP), brought together leaders, activists, and organizations from across the state to address pressing legislative challenges affecting academic freedom and institutional governance.
The summit, a first of its kind, aimed to equip stakeholders with the tools needed to advocate for policies that support diversity and inclusion while resisting legislation that threatens the social and economic progress of marginalized communities. Discussions centered on critical issues such as tenure, shared governance, accreditation, and the broader implications of recent policy changes in Texas’s higher education landscape.
In addition to TAMACC, the summit was organized in collaboration with more than 20 prominent organizations, including LULAC, NAACP, Texas AAUP, Texas AFT, Texas Freedom Network, NAACS Tejas Foco, and Students Engaged in Advancing Texas. Together, these groups are working to ensure that higher education in Texas remains a space for academic freedom, equity, and opportunity for all. The For the Love of Texas summit represents a growing statewide movement committed to defending inclusive policies and fostering collaboration to shape the future of higher education. | | Alejandra de la Torre Joins TAMACC’s Executive Committee
